Program Information
The St. Joseph's Eating Disorder Team provides comprehensive services to Eating Disorder clients and their families. The Team is comprised of three Mental Health Clinicians, a Family Therapist, a Regional Resource Clinician, a Registered Dietitian, Physician and Psychologist Consultants.

Eating Disorders are complex. From anorexia to bulimia to binge eating…. All Eating Disorders have a destructive impact on peoples lives. Every person is unique. Our mandate is to work with people across the Eating Disorder continuum.

95 % of women and men have been on a diet at some point in their life. Dieting does not necessarily lead to improved health. The cultural emphasis on being thin has forced people into an
unhealthy
relationship with
food. Preoccupation
with food and
dieting is a part
of an Eating Disorder.

Regional Outreach Services
We work in a partnership with North Western Ontario communities. Regional practitioners: mental health clinicians, physicians, dietitians, public heath nurses, teachers…. all working together to provide Eating Disorder services.

Body Image
A Canadian survey demonstrated that 85 % of Canadian women and girls are dissatisfied with their bodies. The cultural emphasis on being thin has generated unhealthy perceptions for people of their body size and shape. These body image concerns can lead to poor self esteem, social insecurities, depression and eating disorders.
